The battery light came on while I was driving, so I got the car home. I lifted the hood and the battery was boiling. My positive cable was all burned up. So, I put in a brand new battery and brand new cables. When I put on a voltage meter on the battery when the car is off, I get 13 volts. When the car is running, I get 18 volts. So, according the Haynes manual, it says if I get more than 14.6 volts, then the voltage regulator is bad. By my understanding, the voltage regulator is on the alternator. So thanks for telling me where the fuse is at and I will go check that. Is it common for an aftermarket alternator to go bad in 20,000 miles?
