I'm getting an airbag flashing code of 42. That's supposed to be the drivers side crash sensor fault. Does anyone know where this is located and maybe have some pics?

I have the same code, but I haven't taken the time to search for anything. If you find anything let me know, but I will also start searching around. I know the sensor is right behind the bumper, towards the top of the radiator, it is a little black box. The connector for it is a triangle, you have probably seen it before. The connector sits towards the bottom of the engine bay in the front on the driver side. If I find anything I will let you know.

It is a common problem. Search the forums.

All you do is disconnect your battery for 5-10 minutes so the airbag system discharges. Unplug the sensor, clean the pins, and plug it back in.

My airbag light blinks/flashes in a certain rhythm. 1995 Contour GL 2.5l Duratec ATX. The OBD1 reader (fancy) does NOT show a code. How can I 'read' this airbag light code so I can start with the troubleshooting? Is the driver side crash sensor a typical problem to generate an airbag light code?

Edit: I also measured increased draw of 300mA (nothing on). When pulling fuse number 36 "Airbag", the draw drops to 30mA. That seems to indicat that something in the airbag circuit 36 is either malfunctioning (sensors) or a signal loss to ground (not a short, that would blow the 10A fuse) to account for the extra 270 mA (enough to drain the battery in a few days).

count the flashes.

there will be a short pause between the 2 digits of the code and a long pause between codes (or repeating the code)

I will do the 'counting' later today. Currently, the UIM etc. is off (changed the FPR, will swap out the EGR pressure sensors, try to take off the EGR itself; all to get rid of the long time, annoying 327 EGR code). Once it is back on, I can run the engine and count (assuming that the engine has to run to do the counting? Or is ignition on enough for the counting?).
