Air bag light flashing

It just started today, it flashes 4 times, pauses, then 5 times, then LONG pause, and the 4 flashes, 5 flashes, long pause... so i guess the code is 4 and 5, anyone have any ideas? dont really have time to hook it up to the scan tool at work, and i dont even know if it'll read it cuz its a 95...
 
My 1995 Contour flashes the same code for a few periods of time each week... It has something to do with the crash sensor mounted on the driver's side, which is bolted to the core support about where the battery sits and hangs down in front of the radiator... It looks like a black square with a wiring harness coming out of one side...

Anyways, apparently the batter vapors mess up the sensor over time... Try taking it off (two bolts, make sure to disconnect the battery and let the car sit for a bit first) and cleaning where it makes contact with the core support... I did this and it made the code intermittant, but it has not entirely gone away... Of course, the wiring could also be shot :nonono:
 
If the code points you at the primary crash sensor, it must be well grounded at the radiator support mounting point. Also, the wiring collects water in the non vented cover where it runs low under car to get around the radiator. The water prematurely ages the wiring to where you will find the insulation severely cracked or falling off and the wires corroded. I had to rebuild the wiring on both sides there to fix that code. Can't read if the ground is right if wires are bad. Mine has done this twice, I've fixed it twice. Until fixed, light will occasionally cycle on and off for a day or two and then quit until next time. You should be aware that the airbag is supposedly disabled anytime that light is flashing. There was a recall on '98 models for the problem.
 
thanks for all the info guys, i'll try to check it out later on this week if it isnt too busy at work. Wouldnt suprise me about the wiring cracking. It was a recall in 95 also for the wiring insulation cracking.
 
I just checked mine: it does 3 blink-blink, pause, 2 blink-blink. Is that also a code or something?
