Has anyone bought or seen the new Accel ignition for the 6 cylinder Ford cars? I'm trying to get some feedback on it before I drop the $85 for it. It's part number 140035. I'm thinking about buying it from Summit racing with the Accel 300+ Thundersport 8mm wires. You may have seen it on the SPMotorsports website, but they took it off I noticed. I guess another thought is, is it even worth it? Anyway heres pictures of the wires and coil pack:

I think someone did the math and found that the factory DIS system would work up to almost 15,000 RPM's without much fault. The factory DIS is able to supply spark to our cars up to 350 HP I believe, before "needing" a tune. I would save the money and put it toward the XCAL or something along those lines. There was only one person that had a DIS system that I had first hand experience with. That was Tim Kirk (My99SVT). He had used the Jacobs Electronics System for Ford and didn't find any improvement over stock. My opinion: Use the 85 bones on a good set of wires and plugs. Go with the Taylor Spiro-Pros or Magnecores in an 8.5mm size. Drop in the Autolite DP's or even the NGK Iridiums (spendy). I have first hand experience with those and the Taylor's with good improvements in MPG and throttle response. ....Any aftermarket DIS is either Overkill or not necessary. Any one else have an opinion on where the money would be better spent????

If your coil pack needs replacing, then go ahead and give it a shot. Though the proper part # is 140036. This part has the OEM power plug placement (vertical) as opposed to 140035's horizontal placement (as seen in your pics).

But as they say, replacing it when your current pack is fine will most likely not net you anything but a lighter wallet.
