Has anyone succesfully replaced the entire hub assembly without removing the compressor from the car? Right now I have everything off of the compressor but I am unable to put the Actuator back on the compressor. It is a compression fit and I cannot find enough room with the compressor on the car to put it back on. I have tried heating it up with no better results. I wish now that I had not pulled the old one off. I do not want to pull the compressor but that may be my next step. If I do, does anyone have any advice on how to remove the compressor? I am trying to not have to evacuate the system.

Thanks.

Nothing?

Has anyone installed a field coil on the AC compressor while still on the car? If so advice on how to do so is greatly appreciated.

Came to the conclusion that it is not possible to replace the field coil with the compressor on the car. Removed the compressor and that made the project a whole lot easier.

I was going to post the same question when I cam upon this thread. My compressor hub is rattling and I am thinking of replacing just the hub. What if the compressor was simply loosened from it's mounts and dropped down with the lines still connected? Would that provide enough room?

What are you considering the hub? The most outer piece is the clutch and it can be removed with out removing the compressor. If the pulley is wobbling then I not sure what needs to replaced and how as this is an issue of mine.

I replaced my clutch this weekend, you might need shims when installing.

By hub I am referring to the part listed on RockAuto that says "Hub". The picture shows the outer plate with three bosses with rubber isolators inside. My compressor clutch does not seem to have the rubber any more. Maybe it fell off. I am thinking that it why it rattles so much.
