'99 Cougar ---> 3.0L: Need advice

I have been doing a lot of research and have formulated a list of things that need to be done to replace my 2.5L with an '04-'05 Taurus 3.0L. If anyone sees something I forgot to mention (even if you think it insignificant) don't be afraid to help me! Here is what I have so far:

Full ’04-’05 Taurus Conversion
All 3.0 parts
-UIM
-LIM
-Throttle Body

External Alterations
-Trim for alternator bracket
-Trim crank bushing
-Timing cover swap
-switch timing wheel to 2.5 position
-Crank pulley from 2.5
-’04 3.0L Rear valve cover
-Use ’02 3.0L Front valve cover
-Use ’00 3.0L coil tower
-Use ’00 3.0L coil bracket (bolt-on)
-Change multi-pin coil plug to match ’00 3.0L coil
-Lengthen multi-pin wire
-switch plug wire banks
-renumber plug wires
-Use '01 Cougar motor mount
-trim motor mount
-Use 2.5 oil pan
-pickup tube from 2.5
-possibly bend bracket for pickup tube

Fuel Modifications
-Injector plug wiring
-use ’04 3.0L injectors
-'02 Escape fuel rail
-so rail exits on correct side
??Other necessities for converting from returnàreturn-less

Other Mods
-EGR tube fabrication
-Vacuum lines
-Knock Sensor
-Wire in ’04 3.0L sensor
-Throttle Body bracket
-Frankenstein ’04 3.0L bracket and 2.5 bracket



Again any input would be great!
 
Well using the 2.5 pan and pickup is tentative. I may tap the 3.0 pan and pickup .. .that is up in the air. Any other comments?
 
do it right the first time, order the right parts, oil pan,pickup. i thought this was said also on neco and fco....you have asked the same questions on all 3 forums. are u just trying to get a census of answers?
 
I am just gathering as much information as I can. Mostly different opinions. So anyone with some experience chime in on what you think.
 
i swear bill j at team ford should have a list of all the ford parts todo a 3L swap in our cars. are u going cops set up from buckshot also? why dont you just use both 04 valve covers? and all the ignition rewire, thats why i asked are you using cops or the stock 2.5 igniton coil. you could always mount the coilpack on the firewall above the valvecover and not have to worry about the rewire and cop setup?
 
Im not going COP. But I wanted to use the rear valve cover off the newer motor (better PCV system). So I have to remount the coil pack on the front valve cover. The '04 valve covers dont have a place to mount the coil pack so I was going to use '00 front valve cover (which has the mounting points on the front). And I would use the '00 coil pack just for mounting purposes. It was a solution I know will work. If you have a better/different idea I'm all for it.
 
i agree with you for the rear vc since the better pcv system. but could you possible make a bracket for the 00 coilpack on the rear valve cover or are you runing a front tower strut bar?

does the wire harness still connect the same on the rear valve cover, or is that different?
 
I'm sure sure on that one. I haven't gathered the parts yet. I'm still trying to finalize my plans and parts list before I start buying items. I saw you were talking about running a COP setup. Talk to Dom on FCO. He has been developing a COP setup.
