hey guys thought this was funny but you may be interested in it as it does have a front pre 98 svt bumper what is a "Euro Dash"?

For sale is a 1996 Ford Contour SVT. The motor is a 2.5L V6. SVT Model, 2.5L V6 engine, Power Windows, Locks, Mirrors, Seat, Leather, Keyless Entry, Traction Control, Ground Effects, Euro Dash, Rear Spoiler, CD Player w/MP3 reader. Manual Transmission, Clear Title. It has 97776 miles and runs excellent. If you would like more information or to come out and see it

LOL... gotta love the hood scoop... too bad thats probably just a SVT UIM on a regular block.... (non black valve covers)

The Ad is laughable but there may be a silver lining in this car. Consider the following:

1. That car has a great leather interior with the superior bucket seats. The bucket seats in the 1995 - 1997 Contours had much better lateral support than the 1998+ models. Thus, we have an excellent candidate for either grabbing the whole interior to swap into a true SVT or you could fix all the joke aspects to make this a much better overall car. Also remember, this car has a dash that doesn't debond and a nicer center console.

2. If you like the concept of grabbing the interior, you also have all the parts right there to grab everything needed to change a later car back to the rod shifter set-up. Some people prefer cable vs. rod but my recollection from owning a rod and a cable shifting Contour is that the rod shifter had a nicer feel to it.

3. I do agree with Doug's SVT that it is likely that this is a standard 2.5L with an SVT intake system. However, it has been proven that just retuning a 2.5L V6 can get the output pretty close to a stock SVT. The beauty of this possibly being a 1996 2.5L motor is that it has the good connecting rods that are not prone to spun bearings. Thus, diddle with the motor a little if you are on a budget and you could have a fun ride that won't grenade on you like SVTs do. This car should also be OBDII.

4. This transaxle has a much stronger open differential than the 1998+ Contours unless a 100% SVT drivetrain swap really was done on this car.

5. The silly hood scoop can be readily replaced with a carbon fiber hood. There are plenty of the carbon fiber hoods on Ebay right now (unlike the 1998+ hoods) to easily correct this.

Somebody should seriously drop buy this place and at least take a look. You might be able to haggle the price down enough to make it worth your time. I would certainly do this much if I lived closer AND wasn't hip deep already in my SVT current restoration project.

ive actually seen that car before and got into a argument with the guy because he swore it was a true svt , it is just a svt uim , and euro dash ? not sure about that one but im guessing its "euro" just because its painted or because hes got the actual svt cluster

it just has svt parts as mentioned. seats, uim, cluster, and whatever else is on it. i'm not knocking this car, but anyone who knows Ford knows that TRUE svt's where made from 98-00. that is a false advertisement and should be deleted. i'm not saying its not powered by SVT, but its not a contour svt. anyone who can look up the VIN can tell that. its actually a nice looking car IMO. but this person shouldn't give people the wrong idea, not cool!

contour svt's started production in 96 but they were made with the 98+ body style ............... im not sure if the guy i met with this car is the guy whos on this fourm or not but he was a total DB , it was when i 1st got my csvt i was getting gas and he was at the pump across from me , he yells "putting premium in these cars sucks dont it" , i say kinda and we start chit chatting and i tell him nice svt conversion with it being a pre 98 car , he gets all pissy and says this is a true csvt , i tell him no and start pointing stuff out to him ( svt uim on a regular v6 , not having dual exhaust , 98+ body style only for the csvt , and a true svt dont have SE symbols on the fenders ) , he got ••••ty and left , i seen the car a few weeks later at old country bufet with a diffrent guy driving it , i didnt mean to disrespect the guy at all but just trying to inform him and he got all bent out of shape

I think the car has a lot going for it but yeah SE engine with SVT intake
deffinately not a SVT but hey not many pre98 SVT bumpers out there a good paint job and a certain hood scoop removed and it would look much better

Those are not SVT seats or door panels, the "euro dash" is just white overlay gauges, it's just a SVT UIM - tb - intake, the front bumper is either a DIY molded one or a Micah bumper, the rear bumper is missing the bottom where the mesh goes, etc..... There isn't anything that makes it worth more than $1k.

New paint, fixed rear bumper, jack covers, fix drivers skirt, no scoop, and dual exhaust - then you might have a decent '96.......
