A person in my area is giving away free a 95 Contour w/120k on it becuase the engine overheated badly and she doesn't want to take the time to fix it. It's an immediate tow-away deal. What common overheating problems on these exist, and is there anything I'd really want from a 95 Tour for my 98?

Before anyone asks, I don't know engine size, model, or any of that until I see it which won't be until next week as she's out of town and taking "offers" to who can get rid of it the fastest including DMV transfer, etc.

What's common between the two years? Side window electric motors and regulator? Most switches? PCM? Guage cluster if better?

That's what I was originally thinking. Over heating is usually either bad water pump, hose, thermostat, or several other "fixable" problems. As long as the person didn't truly wreck the engine, but I guess trying to start it momentarily would ID that.

take the car and part it out, easy money

Might not be a winning transaction. There are few Contour owners in my area, and shipping parts out of the bush country usually kills any incentive over getting-it-cheap. There are no local-pickup options unless, well, it's myself. I haven't seen an SVT here, and most of the Contours (like mine) are ex-Rental Car company sales.

Depends on the options. Heated mirrors, door harnesses, interior door handles etc. I was looking for this stuff for a little while and finally found them. Just a thought.
