4.06 Ratio for MTX-75

Just find a Zetec MTX and pull the parts. There isn't any "official kit" available.

It also depends on the current internals of the mtx. There are two different style input shalfs, iirc, so you need to make sure you get the right zetec mtx parts.

i read the junk yard part, but my dad says he may be able to get a great deal on new pieces from a guy that provides nothing but transmission parts to dealerships. He buys all his stuff from him.

Call up Bill J. Let him know you need everything, he should be able to track the part numbers down; though im not sure he'd want to if you wont be buying from him.

thats why i havn't called him. I'll probably call one of the local dealerships to get the numbers. I usually buy from bill but if i can get a good buy on all my trans goodies i'll let everyone else know.

It's hit or miss and you only need to remove the shift tower to confirm which style shaft yours has... I should've looked when I installed my torsen last year but at that point planned on rocking the 2.5L for a while. Now that I have a home for my SVT engine and will be dropping a 3L in, i'm kicking myself for not swapping the FDR then...

Anywho, this should help... ;)

The MTX-75 was discontinued some time ago. Unless there is a warehouse with a pile of parts it may be hard to find what you're looking for new.

You can tell what kind of output shaft you have by removing the shift tower and looking at the output shaft. If you have the early style shaft then you need a 95-97 Zetec donor transmission to get the required splined pinion and ring gear. Parts are not available from the dealership as they have been discontinued.

If you have the later 3-piece output shaft then you have the option to run the 3.82 or the 3.5 ratio from the 2007+ Focus. In that case, you need a new output shaft and the matching ring gear (can be ordered from the dealer). The big challenge of that modification would be transferring gears from one output shaft to the other. Heard it's not really a job for the DIY'er

Terry Haines did a 3.5 swap for my turbo CSVT. Should drop the highway RPM down 500 or so. Much better gear for our cars. Not sure why they wanted such a high RPM on the highway in the first place...
