My first time tearing a tour apart on my own, so it's been a slow, meticulous journey making sure to do things right and fix things that are wrong. It's not done yet, but here are some pics of the progress:

Some changes are going on in here as well. Steering wheel will be replaced, guage pod that Amanda won me at SZ07 and some other sweet stuff when time provides :D

Some changes going on here as well in the form of a NPG big brake kit and my ST200's with new rubber

The ailment that took down my 2.5...misfire in cyl one due to bad piston rings and cyl 5 also on the way out :(

The steering wheel is swapped over, the guage pod is almost wired, and the other goodies will get put in after I get it running. The motor is painted and will be ported this weekend and reassembly should be done by the end of the weekend. I have off all next week so we'll start dropping her in and should be done by Wed. I'm so psyched...this thing has been down since last August due to family illness and weather prohibiting it to move from my storage garage to the operating room. Thanks for looking!

Huh? LOL, yes but there was alot of part swapping between the two motors that had to be done. I have all the 2.5 parts I need disassembled and I'm sanding and repainting rusty coolant pipes, etc. Not too much more to go before the 3L is ready to drop in

Thanks guys, the powdercoating was done by PRT before it became unavailable to them. I hated the color when I first saw it. Its a candy blue that looks almost purple when it's not in sun/light. I've grown to love it very much  Having a garage definitely helps the process and it's actually alot easier than I thought it would be since this is the first time doing it on my own. There might be some more pics coming today.

For some reason I just don't trust the SVT cams that came out of my motor. They have a couple areas that are questionable and I just don't feel like having to tear everything back out again. I've gotten mixed opinions from people including a Ford Tech friend of mine and decided against using them. I don't have money for different ones and from what I understand, the midrange power the 3L cams provide may be better for the road course racing I do anyways (getting up to speed from corners, etc. We'll see what happens I guess

3L cams for the win! Me too. - Are you checking/changing the rod bearings? Sounds like you aren't going that far into the motor. Swaping your 2.5 parts onto it and throwing it in.

Since my 3L only has 5k on it, I don't think it will be a problem. I checked the timing out and everything looked like brand new. When I dropped the Taurus oil pan to put on the Escape pan everything was squeaky clean. The spark plugs were squeaky clean. This motor is like a brand new crate motor. I don't see a reason to tear anything apart (other than I was going to swap the SVT cams and new timing hardware until I saw the cams and decided against it). Your motor should be fine too. If it was over 50k, I would be concerned, but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it too much.
