Persons in the SE Michigan area, where are you getting your 3L engines recalibrated?

I called Livernois and it sounded as if their jaw dropped to the floor.
I hope to speak with their main tech tomorrow.

Any other places known to have good cal services?

I've already spoke with MonkeyWrench Racing and they will not have their Ford stuff up and running any time soon.

Anthony, if your keeping your 19 lb injectors, you shouldnt have to do anything. MAF should compensate for the higher CFM being drawn into the engine.

If you do get a tune though, talk to Tom (warmonger) on this site. Hes a certified SCT dealer and has 'mail order' tuned many cars on this website. Hes probably the most knowledgable when it comes to tuning the contour platform since he used to own one. ;)

I know when Mark Knox did his 3.0L hybrid, his car without a tune was making 195 whp and had almost perfect AFR.

Port matching the heads for svt intakes and 19lb injectors means the stock SVT PCM will run the car fine. It is not optimal for gas mileage or performance though.

My car was rich before, so I'm thinking mpg will be worse than my truck.

I figure I'm going to need a tune to drive here to there without stoping at a gas station :D

I already have MSDS headers, Bassani Cat back and South Country Cold Air induction (in name only :)).

I'm adding 3.0L short block with the above.

I'm using the c/o 19# injectors and fuel components.

Fidanza flywheel means it's going to be rough, so can use my but dyno to know how well it's runing :D

i do not have an svt. i have an SE. will the SE computer run the 3.0L fine without tuning if i get the 19lb injectors or will i need more? if so can anyone give me a part number for 19lb injectors and or a cheep place to get them? the part # is not in the parts list

Your car will run with 19lb injectors with the stock SE programming, however, since its tuned for 17 lb injectors, you'll be adding more fuel than neccessary with the larger 19 lb injectors. If your stock tune is already pretty rich to begin with, I imagine it will make pretty poor numbers untuned. Call the dealership and get the part number.

Rather than purchase anew computer, have the thing dyno tuned!

I don't know why everyone always says let it run, it will be fine..

Maybe... Some will some won't

Pay the $$ for the dyno tune!
This gets you REAL #'s UNDER LOAD! Mail order tunes, while they can and will work, alot of the time they do not work properly. Have YOUR Car Tuned Precisly for what IT has. Not based on similar setups!

but it will start and run without a tune? if so that is what i am looking for. a tune can happen later. this is for a school project and i have limited time to r and r the engine in my car and have it running. (2.5 to 3.0) any other tricks that might help that? i am not using oval port. i have a 98 3.0L i know about filling and drilling holes but could use some help with the intake and injector tricks being used anything will help thanks

No place in detroit has been found to tune a contour for crap. Get a mail order from Warmonger and have some dyno pulls done with datalogs and afr's and then have it fine tuned.

I guarantee you that there are many dyno tunes not worth the time it takes to spell 'dyno'. Mail orders fall in that category too. It is the tuner that makes the difference, plain and simple. For example: I know every one of us knows people that we classify in the "competent" list as well as people we classify in the "dipshyt" list. Well, tuners fall into the same categories whether they have a dyno or not:laugh:
Choose carefully. lol

Also, you are wrong about real numbers under load. Numbers don't mean shyt to a tune, only for peak power and bragging rights. Your time at full throttle is usually something like 10% maybe? THe rest of the time is starting, pulling up to stop signs and idling, cruising in traffic because there is no room for a full throttle run. And on top of all that? Which do you think is harder to tune? Full throttle or cruise-idle? I'll give you a hint....it is the same thing that people cry about the most both before and after a tune: cruise-idle.

OT: 2deep2, hey i saw your car parked in the denso parking lot a little while back...

Yeah, I'm in that complex sometimes.
The car with the JBL logo, can't miss it :D

I agree with Warmonger, it's the calibrator that makes the difference.

Most I have found say "is it a GM?, NO.... a ford V6 what???"

I plan to get the car going with the carry over cal and re-cal for the MAF, which is why I think the car was rich before.
Think I'm going to go with the Xcal2 :)

Well I got the engine running with the base 2.5L SVT cal :)

Only ran it for 15 mininute or so.

The sound of the engine was not right and the trans had gear rattle and the brakes were loosing fluid. Hope to address all these issues tomorrow.

Currently the engine will not idle on its own.
It runs near 500 rpm to 400 rpm and dies once I lift off the throttle.
I have to tip the throttle for a 650 to 750 rpm idle. Maybe just need adjust the cable??

Otherwise it is running with the base 2.5L SVT cal.

Once we address all the issues and get the lifters good and primed we will see how well it runs with stock calibrations.

Well I got most of the leaks fixed. Still need redo the exhaust :( have some leaks that appear to be in the pipe at weld joint.

Still it sounds a lot better with strong midrange pull.

Got it on the road today and it loads up bad when you get out of the throttle.
I had so many fumes in the car I thought I was in a drag racers car :D
This is with the stock 2.5L SVT cal.

Going on the Dyno in a week.

It should honestly run almost perfect with the stock calibration. Whats the condition of your fuel injector harness? I know when I did my swap, my injector harness was cracked and two of my injectors were running open loop.

Hopefully when you get it tuned youll figure out whats wrong.
