3L build

I am glad that yall had fun. I am still lookin for my tour. Do you have any #s yet. Where did you get the tune from? Thats probably a stupid question. But congrats on the 3L and the expeirence. Nice 3.0T badge by the way.

no numbers yet am sorry. when i get them, i'll post em here n maybe the dyno page. no complete tune yet, only partial. glad u like the badge. they're both audi emblems. the red "T" is an euro emblem. not found on any stock audis here in the states.

any idea on the whp and tq you got?

not yet been to the dyno. am guesing approx 320wheels. which brings me to the question or concern... wot are those with a lotta power doing about their torque steer? Mine's immense despite the fact that i installed a quaife LSD during the build. at top boost when i shift, the steering wheel just wants to go off on its own. i didnt shim mine. am hoping thats got nuthn to do with it. help...

People will tell you that it is just because it is a fwd car, but I know I didn't really have much to any torque steer. Wheel spin yes, but not torque steer. :)

You sure its not just the wheels skating when your spinning, what I mean is it a jerk or is it like you have skis in front.

You some much horse going to the wheels that they want to go naturally to the right. It happens alot on my buddies car.

finally got all my guages hooked up n everything. i had oil sipping into the cabin through the tubing ford racing sent me, and so i had to get a tougher one. the wideband mount wasnt the prettiest but it works. sorry 'bout the pic. i used ma fone. oh, by d way, air-fuel is btween 12.3 n 12.6. not too bad as i imagine.

Looks good. I had that same oil pressure gauge but I sold it, I couldn't get the darn plastic tubing to stop leaking. I switched to an electric Autometer that looks basically the same.

Didn't know FR made a pyrometer though :ponder:

You should talk to Joey if you are even touching 12.6 A/F under WOT. You should richen WOT up a couple % which can be done directly through the Xcal2 if Joey set the parameters with some user adjustablity. Watch your EGT's and I wouldn't hold boost too long in 4th or 5th gear if your EGTs are creeping up past 1550 degrees for where you mounted your EGT probe. 12.5 is borderline boosted A/F but I guess your boost psi has some to do with this. When it comes time to turn the boost up to 12psi or so, A/F should be no leaner than 12.0, with 11.5 being a good target a/f.

it actually does richen at WOT. at about 5lbs its 12.6, when it gets to 7.5lbs, it richens up to 12.2/12.3. as for the egt, i'll look at it next time am at boost. its the last guage i usually glance at.

It should richen up as the boost increases with more boost pressure on the mechanical fuel pressure regulator so that is good. As long as you aren't leaning out and hitting mid to high 12's under full boost, then you should be fine. Just making sure you don't have a repeat. :D lol.

Sage advice. Cylinder pressures are TREMENDOUS compared to an NA car, so even minor pre-detonation can easily cause damage to rings & other components that may not have been designed with FI in mind. Considering the added power that FI offers, I'd gladly run a bit rich at WOT and give up some ponies to insure the health of my engine. Bragging rights are great and all, but not worth squat if you're on the shoulder of the road with vital fluids being expelled.
