3.0L with 17# injectors ????

I think before it pops the pcm will richen the fuel mixture to +20% trims and then the CEL will pop on telling you banks 1 and 2 lean.

If you are running 17s with stock MAF and NOT getting these codes, AND the engine is running normal, then don't sweat it so much.
Remember the injectors are 17#/hr on 39-40psi, ours run 55psi WOT so that makes those 17's act more like a much larger injector, approximately a 20lb/hr injector. This ought to max out at about 220crank HP, a bit low if your 3L has headers and intake mods. Stock exhaust and airbox you might be on the borderline.

Same reason the 19#/hr injectors are good for more like than 240wHP on our cars.
 
I think I will dyno with my ported 3L using the stock MAF, SE LIM, and 17# injectors just to see if I can back your theory. Car runs good and I get about 325 miles to a full tank if I stay below 4k for shifts.

PS, cougs with 17# injectors are OBDII - is there a difference in how the PCM works with a 1995 contour w/17# injectors being an OBDI? I also do not have a CEL and never have since the build.

193 TQ
 
does running smaller injectors at higher pressure give better fuel atomisation ? or will it just squirt fuel across the port and into the port wall on the other side ?...G.
