My 3.0 has been installed and working for about 8 or 9 months now. I pulled off the throttle body to do some other work. To make a long story short, I inserted the sprung throttle shaft into the TPS when the TPS was at its zero point. The spring tension was enough to make the TPS click, and now I'm getting a P0122: Throttle Position Sensor circuit Low Input.

I went and picked up a new TPS for my throttle body ('01 Taurus) only to find that it rotates in the opposite direction that my throttle shaft spins. I turned it around and put some tension on the TPS, but I got a P1120: Throttle Position Sensor out of range. I took the new one back and put the old one back on, but the same CEL popped up.

Did I just get the wrong TPS? What am I looking for?

Sorry, I'm pretty SVT focused.....everything I said above is if your running an SVT TB. If you have the stock 3.0L then yes, you should be able to use a replacement part. You could be ruining them. Like I said above, any over rotation or anytime you feel then click you are at risk of breaking them, which would put you right back into a CEL.

My SVT TB has the connector pointing out away from the motor, but my 3L stock TB points back towards it....so that's why the SVT one is not the same P/N.

I know you've been around the block on this, but any chance that you forgot which way it points?

Okay, I got it fixed. My guess is that the guy at O'Reilly's gave me the Vulcan 3.0 TPS, and it rotated the wrong way. I went back and got one specifically for the Duratec and it worked great.
