2000 Duratec V6 Transmission Range Sensor

It should be just below the air filter and sitting right on top of the trans. Looks like the Millineum Falcon. EDIT: Sorta

Transmission Range Sensor STILL UNFOUND

Transmission Range Sensor STILL UNFOUND

Everything I have read says it is below the air filter but it is not. I am wondering if it because the engine is the 2.5L double overhead cam (DOHC). Can anyone help me locate the TRS?

do you have the new part already in hand? This will help in identifying the part.

it sits right on top of the transmission. stand at the drivers fender facing the motor. right in front of you will be the mount for the transmission. Follow that down to the trans and you'll almost be on top of it.

Click the first link on my previous post. Pictures are there.

The pictures posted there do not look it does on mine. Here is a picture of the area under the air filter. I do have the part. I cannot see anything that looks like it or the pictures I have seen in the thread.

Is this an automatic transmission car?

If so, look a little lower. You picture is of the bracket that holds the air filter and you need to be looking below that.

If this is a manual transmission car, it doesn't have a transmission range sensor.

The picture in my link is for a 4 cyclinder. The V6 has it in the same (or similar) location. I have a V6. If you stand in front of the car, it is to the left of the battery.

Your picture shows you looking from the driver side. Try standing in front of the car and look down at the transmission.

Is your V6 the DOHC?

THANKS SO MUCH for the help. I found the TRS and got it replaced and the car is now running perfectly. I had a transmission shop tell me the tranny was shot. Got the new part for $54 and a couple hours work...and help from you all and the job is done! Special thanks to Tony2005!

I also want to add my thanks to everyone that posted anything regarding MPLS problem (transmision range sensor). I just bought the car a month ago and thought I had acquired a pile of junk. Diagnosed here through the forum, bought the part from Bill at teamfordlv (much cheapper than locally) Saved myself a truckload of $ by swapping out the sensor myself and buckaroo banzai is no more. Did 2 75 KM trips today which would have caused the problem but the car drives like a normal car should . :D
