Graham, TX: a place so nice, they rob your house t
'96 'Tour, ATX, Zetec, and an out of warranty 99m03 wiring harness problem. :D Just got this today. I have approximately 6 months to get it running right. I'll be driving it in the 2007 BA2BE rally. (thanks Todras for originally finding this rally!) It's not real pretty, but it has brand new tires w/ less than 100 miles on them, and a recently serviced/replaced timing belt! :D Gotta love it when you benefit because others don't know the skinny on the car they're driving.

I plan on having some serious fun messing with this car! I'm going to transplant the moonroof out of my parts car (after the mechanical stuff is taken care of), skirts off the parts car, eventually the wheels too. Ohsigmachi has some B&G springs I'm trying to get. I will probably concentrate most on the suspension, with a little left over for boosting h.p., but I want to have this thing nice and tight for running The Dragon! I can't wait for that segment of the rally!!!

Nice buy.

That thing is seriously beat up. it needs some loven. Take good care of her and good luck.
It has some dents here and there, and the paint on the hood is shot, but all in all it's in really good shape. It's filthy because it has sat in that same spot for 3 or 4 months. But the interior is in good shape, no tears in the fabric, no holes. I think it'll make a fun little car. If it gets to running good, then there may be some mods in her future. We'll wait to see if she survives the roughly 3000 mile round trip of the rally before the big mods start!

I like the color:cool: You probably do have some stuck brakes. It almost looks like water/dirt collected around the car in a "light rain".

Friggin sweet. You need to document what you'rr doing up to the Rally. Take pics of what you did to the car. Take pics of receipts etc. I'm sure it will be one of the nicest there by far.

You have a choice to make

You have a choice to make

Make it into on of the cleanest tours around before during and after the rally,

Or Turn it in to one of the cars be saw in the original post for the rally

I'd perfer the latter of the 2 since my fist car was a 96 moonlight blue mystique and hate to see that butiful color in such poor condition

pre-98 means focus swap(able) parts for it. We post 98 guys are limited becasue of the VCT. I would have bought it for twice what you paid for it.

Thanks for all the comments. :) After sorting out the electrical, suspension and brakes are at the top of the list. Any hp mods will depend upon time and money. Luckily, it appears that the rally only requires the purchase price to be $250, not the total amount spent to purchase AND repair. My main concern on a 121,000 mile car was the timing belt, and come to find out that had been recently replaced before the electrical crapped out. :D Bonus for me!

I will probably be leaving the body alone for the moment. The most I'll do before the rally is possibly swap out the rear drivers side door on my parts car, and the skirts too. They're teal, so the mismatch will be perfect for this rally. The car's ultimate fate will depend upon its performance during the rally. If it screws me and breaks down somewhere, it's toast. If it finishes like a champ, then I'm sure there will be more mods and "prettifying" later on.

I'll probably keep updating my progress with it in the BA2BE rally thread Todras started, and I'll be cruising the Zetec sections on here now. Wish me luck!

good wash, some Zaino a little paint on the hood and it wont be half bad looking.
