Long story short I built an E0 CSVT engine (got the thing for cheap) and dropped it into my Cougar. Since I don't have the manual from the CSVT I am not exactly sure on what Octane fuel I should be running in this thing. So if anyone has that info I would greatly appreciate it.

but the cougar pcm isn't programmed to have 91 or 93 run ... I wouldn't think that you need it ... I would try 87 as spec'd and see if it pings, if it does try mid grade ... or you could just run premium if you like ...

Thanks for the info guys. I have been running a range of things from 89-91, since putting the engine in about 1500 miles ago, to see if I got any knocking or anything and it has run fine on all. I will stick with the little better stuff for the sake of using the proper fuel.

Doh! I didn't think about that. Good call, Brian.

PCM from an SVT Tour actually have a Superchip with ti too but haven't decided if I was going to put taht on ever or not. As of right now just SVT Tour PCM.

Ahhh....you're the guy I traded PCMs with, aren't you? If so then he has an SFG0 PCM, and the Superchip has an unknown tune, most likely whatever the standard tune was for them.

In which case, premium would be the recommendation.

SVT + SVT PCM = premium fuel .... the superchip would also be tuned for premium fuel also

btw the SFG0 superchip should do the following ... The one I picked up came from KKM and this is what they told me about it

Base timing advanced 5°
Fuel tables matched to advance curve
IMRC opens 450 rpm earlier with linear rate
Rev limiter raised to 7,200 rpm
Max rpm fuel cut eliminated
