I need to replace my front struts and I'm on a budget (less the better ).

Rockauto's got KYBs for $61 and Monroe sensa-trac's for $62. Of course I have to factor in shipping and customs because I'm shipping it to canada but I think they should work out to maybe $100 tops/piece.

I've heard a lot of b**chin' about KYB struts on here but they seem to be for only cars with lowering springs. I'm gonna be running stock springs.

So without jumping to like $150+ before shipping/customs for BAT struts or something, is there anything better I could do?

If that KYB strut is only $60 its not the heavy duty model for stiffer lowering springs so you'll be fine. The thing people gripe about is inexpensive struts dying relatively quickly when you slap stiffer springs on them.

there is nothing wrong with budget work, but don't skip on the details like replacing the strut mounts/hats.

Did you contact CTA Motorsports? They list BAT's at US $96.00 ea. and they're in Brampton. Personally, I bought my BAT's out of the US, but being in MI, I looked both ways...like you I swayed from over-border shipping.

they are still made by ford. i had a manufacturing flaw on one of mine and it wore out in 10k but i was on eibach springs too.

however ford struts have gone up in price now they used to be 64 apiece for fronts and 48 apiece for rears now they are 86 for fronts and 60 for rears or something like that. that is with steve's discount at tousley, i got that lower price two years ago though.

last I heard the non-svt front strut part number and the svt strut part number became the same. the rears have always been the same so no big deal there. I really don't think you can get SVT specific front struts anymore.

i dont mean to argue but i just talked to steve at tousley and he confirmed that they are still different numbers. all dimensions are the same, but SVT struts are valved a little more agressively. either will work and you probably wont notice a difference, but they are still 2 different part numbers according to him.

thats good to know then. the different valving from my understanding was to help control nose lift on acceleration.
