woooooing sound when i drive???

Lately since its been cold, i hear a really loud woooing sound coming from under my hood. Its when i start it up and turn the wheel, the sound starts. After i turn the wheel several times. It then some times stops and when it doesn't, i have to shut off the car and restart it. Then is stops....

I have no idea wtf it could be, a bad power steering??? I have started my car and had someone turn the wheel but it never does it for me. So i can find it.

i have a 1999 svt
 
Its most likely "moosing", if its a reverberating, fog horn sounding (although slightly different tone) sound.

Revving the engine by blipping the throttle or raising the revs to above 2300 or so will usually cure it.

There is a fix, called the "TH" (or, Throttle Hang) fix and costs about 15 cents.
 
Usually only occurs when defrost is on, according to my bro that is, he has a 98 svt, I got a 99. Mine does it too, and since it's cold I always have it on flr/def. Not sure if I want to do the throttle hand fix, I surely will if I put remote start in. I don't want it to be out there making loud noises in the morning since we live in apartments.
 
i know the -hang fix.

but this is the first time in almost 3 years that this happened.
 
For a second I thought it might be a wheel bearing gone bad. But when you have one of those it doesn't stop making the noise.
 
Its probably the IAC. Had the same problem and then I replaced this part. Problem fixed! Been fixed for about 2 years and never has it came back.

Would be a feat to have a bad wheel bearing making noise while sitting still.

Let me say, i was driving on the road and hit a bumb, the noise came on lmao. I laughed so hard. My girlfrend sat there going what is that... I was like what. ignoring the noise. She was like OMG your car is going to blow up. I turned to her and said, what noise are u talking about. She screamed the wooooing noise. I go, oh yea that. Hmmm i have no idea what it is. Then i hit another bumb the noise goes away.

Seriously a moose could be under my hood.......
 
don't bring it alex. he didn't even know what the Moose was last week. His car started doing it and he shut if off like instantly like it was going to blow up.
