I have a 97 contour se. it has power locks and windows. But I am not sure if it has the keyless module? I was seeing if i can juss program a keyless entree or do i need to install a module.

Lower the glovebox and be careful with the side tabs. If you look back you should see a transmitter box back there. If all you see is wires than you may be out of luck.

Yummy.. a keyless entree...

What kind of sides does that come with?
:)

What is a pcm because I difinitely have that. i will have to check to see if i have the module. will it be located next to it or behind the glove box

I juss realized that i don;t have a keyless module. are they hard to install? where is the best place to buy keyless entry?

A factory keyless would be a real PIA if your car didn't come with it. Your best (and easiest) option is to purchase a keyless system from a good company like Directed (Viper, Python, Hornet, etc.), that way you have some tech support when you get stuck  Or you can get a cheapo form ebay, but you run the risk of odd-ball wiring colors, and slightly unusual relay setups.

You'll need a wiring chart (it lists the colors and locations of the wires in the car that you will need to tap into). If you ask real nice, a local car stereo shop will usually give you this for free/cheap.

Most keyless systems use 5-10 wires depending on options (flash parking lights, horn honk, turn interior light on/off, etc.) Not all options have to be used, you can pick and choose  Most all wires that you will need will be under the drivers side dash, near the fuse box/wire harness.

Good Luck!

im not the brightest bulb but im guessing that if you dont know what the pcm is and admit to not that good electrically....you should just go on and due w/o a keyless entree

no there is nothing wrong with wanting to try yourself. Just make sure you do the proper research on how to do what you want to do and make sure you are comfortable doing that and have the correct tools.

but in the end just about anything that can be screwed up and also be fixed, so alot of time there isnt any harm in trying.

best bet is to find a local CEGer that is good in what you want done and try to learn from them.

I just got a 98 SVT E0, I have a fob I need to program. I read the how to, but I cannot find the mystical connector that needs to be shorted.

I looked around behind the glove box, and found plenty of wires and connectors, but nothing that was not mated with something else.

Help?
