Anyone hear of it or use it? http://www.fatmat.com I'm looking for something to quiet up the interior of the car, so this would all go under the carpet. Probably getting the 50 square foot pack... it's about the same price as e-dead, but it includes the roller and stuff and shipping.

i think i have edead in my pgt. i used about 120sqft.
but then i stripped the car from dash back.
works great. i didn't bother with the roller i just used my hands, which btw will cut your fingers, so i'd get the roller...lol

Wear mechanics gloves for parts of it, it helps to keep you from getting your fingers cut.... fatmat/edead/dynamat all pretty much the same thing.... I'd be looking at price vs thickness of the products....

For application I used a heat gun and a carpet roller from menards... I've also used the handle from screw drivers to press it in or the ball of your fist... Wear gloves, save your hands...

120 sq ft? That seems like a lot. Although my doors have already been done in Dynamat. I'd like to do the floor pan, the trunk floor, and especially the rear wheel wells. This is totally for quieting the interior, not anti-rattle.

yea well i bought like 240sq ft. i have like 90 left. when it actually stays warm longer then two days imma do all the doors and trunk of the tour....it should make it almost silent.

the mat doesn't do a lot to quiet the interior.. that's what ensolite's for.

not really sure what you are talking about because doing the whole inside of the car, it's pretty silent now in the pgt

I have used it. I bought 200sq ft and still have 100 left. I lined the entire trunk and the inside of the skin on all 4 doors which really keeps the sound inside and some heat out. It was easy to work with also and I never cut myself on it. Buy a good roller because some of the cheap ones will break when applying pressure.

while the mat may have helped.. foam would help tenfold.

the purpose of dynamat/ect is to add mass and prevent vibration.. then ideally you want to put ensolite/closed cell foam on top of that to absorb sound waves.

yea i coulda used foam but i didn't wanna really deal with all the hassle, especially since the mat worked and made it next to silent

What kind of foam? My plan was to lay that mat down, then get some thick jute padding from a store around here. Same thing?

im almost thinking he's talking about expanding foam. which i did use in the doors of my pgt, because it had door caps that rattled.

if you wanna go that route it'd work, but you could have a huge mess, i'd just get some fatmat and go that route. it's easy to work with just do it on a hot day to make it easier.

That's awesome if the mat alone worked well

Most guys I know did mat and foam though and had great results. The foam isn't expanding foam either, not messy.

Look up ensolite on google. It kills roadnoise :)

oh awesome on the foam thing then. expanding foam is hella messy. btw don't get it on your arm hair.....unless your a swimmer! lol

I used all but about ~15 square feet. I covered all of the floor, from the heel area, back along the floor pan, and did the rear wheel well and under the bottom of the rear seat. I also did the rear shelf, part of the trunk floor, and part of the spare tire well. Overall, it sounds great, makes the car sound much more solid. I'd recommend the 100 sq ft kit to do the trunk lid and doors too.

It took me about 4 hours to do the interior, about about 45 minutes to do the trunk. It's alot of work to cut it, fit it, stick it on, then cut out screw holes, etc.

wow that's not bad at all.. I thought it would take even longer to do floor and stuff.

i'll be doing my doors and everything else later this week with raam. we'll see how it goes :)

Stuff is good......

Did trunk in wifes car..... she no longer complains (about that anyway)
