Where to cut, what to cut and pics (altenator and crank)

what 3l oil pan doesn't work? I'm using the taurus pan, it's deeper and better baffled than the 2.5

the 2.5 pan actually has the windage tray below the fill level for the oil, no good. the 3l pans are deep enough to get the oil below the tray. with the taurus pan you have to drill two holes. not hard. use a small drill bit in the center of the hole on the block to get a mark to drill on the trans. then pull the trans and drill the hole out with the appropriate bit. not hard.

some guys even leave those bolts out.

heres some specific pics of cutting the extra ears off the 3.0 block:

cut the ears off with a lumber blade actually, bi metal blades kept tearing up too fast, big teeth on the lumber blade went through it like butter. used the file to smooth things out a little

I dont have a die grinder, only a body grinder, and it proved too big to get any clean work out of. if you look at the pics, you'll see where I was trying to smooth things out with a body grinder, unsuccessfully, and I'm pretty friggin good with a grinder. perhaps with the engine on a stand were you could flip it over to get into that top area...
