I don't think that there is a way to adjust ignition timing. It is fixed physically on the engine but timing advance is modified by the PCM according to load, temp, engine speed, etc...........
If you are getting detonation, check to see if your CEL is on, if so then scan and read the codes, that might get you somewhere. If not, well then have fun. Althougth this engine is fairly insensitive to octane, you might try a tank or so of high octane gas to see if it makes a difference. Or you might have a carbon build up that is pre igniting your fuel charge when it is warm.
Some magic elixiers exist to help you clean out the combustion chamber, and they are usually introduced through the intake either through the horn or a vacuum hose.
