alright, well i am indeed putting an SVT Contour V6 into my focus. i was wondering what are the best exhaust headers to get (i have to get a new set, the junkyard didn't include them.) any site for performance or OE contour parts would also be a big help. if anyone is selling they're stock flywheel, or shifter from a manual rod shift (pre-98) that would be great too. sorry, im jumping thru about 3 different forums worth of topics, but this project is getting big and i cant afford for it to get out of hand, this is my daily driver we're talking about.

thanks in advance,

You're doing this to a daily driver? Good luck. LOL! Do you think you're going to do the swap in a weekend?

it has already taken more than a weekend, and im doing it cause i put 5 holes in my Zetec block. i kno everyone raves about the 3L but the engine mounts are totally different and that means it's totally custom, the 2.5L swap is crazy enough and it will haul. im losing plenty of weight between going from the Zetec to teh Duratec and going from automatic to manual. the engine lays down 195 stock, and im having a custom intake and exhaust made, so i'll prolly be putting down some really nice numbers.

there is the log for my swap, it explains everything and has plenty of pictures.

thanks for the help!

I remember seeing some posts (in this forum) a while back of someone that put a V8 in a Focus. I think there was also someone that did the 2.5L V6 swap you are attempting. I admire your determination for such a project, but why not do it to a car that has some decent styling? To each his own though... Also, I can tell you that this swap is probably not in your best interest if you are looking for a reliable car for school that will potentially getting a lot of miles put on it. You are not going to want to have to worry about fixing your car while you are in college.

yeah but a 3L with a mtx would mount in exactly like at 2.5L with a mtx, that is why contour owners do the swap, it bolts right in ... so if your fabbed up to bolt a 2.5L in you can do a 3L also ...

I agree... and low mileage 3L blocks are more readily available these days.

I have a stock CSVT flywheel and clutch combo including the throw out bearing out of my car with 51k miles that I could sell you for cheap if you were interested.

i am very interested, of course the trans i have is flywheel and clutchless, and the engine was missing it too. pm me with the price and i'm sure we can work something out. just let me kno. if anyone is getting rid of their stock exhaust headers or alternator i need those as well. thanks.

i have two sets of stock exhaust manifolds, one set I was starting to get codes for and the other set I think is ok .... you know you can get just the headers from MSDS for $200 then you can get them coated however you want ....

how are the headers only $200?? i went to msds they wanted $655

that is for the whole 9 yards ... there is a permenant "grass roots" sale where you can buy parts of the whole kit for a reduced cost, but the total would still be $665 ... so the set of headers is $200 plus coating, stock y-pipe will bolt to them or you can go custom tru-duals or something else if you like, a stock optimized y-pipe is pretty good also ...

i do indeed kno rob. are you his contour obsessed friend??? lol.
yeah im loving his new car. that thing hauls!

thanks, that helps a lot.
