Hello,
I am trying to replace my drivers control arm, but in order to get the bolts out of the front part of the bracket i need to raise the tranny case several inches. If anyone has any suggestions or tricks to accomplish this, please let me know!
BTW: This is a 96 2.5L MTX

unless the cage nuts spin in the body like mine did

the rear two you can get to from with in the car, just need to open up access holes that are already in the floor ... I think that you can get to the front also but I am not sure ...

also don't use an impact wrench to remove the bolts ... use alot of PB blaster and work the bolts out so you don't bind them up and couse the cage nut to spin ...

thats exactly what i did and they still spun , yeah there is an access in the floor , so ford must have planned on that happening

I know many don't agree with this, but I cut out the old bolt, and installed my from the bottom going up. Then, once it was tightened, hit the threads w/ a hammer to keepp the nut from ever backing out. It's been about 20K miles w/ no issues. But I still check out that bolt each time I'm under the car, just to be sure.

your right, that is a valid option but I personally don't care for the idea at all ... if you search goonz had issues with the bolt hitting the trans case ...

I know. I did search before I did it, readong both pros and cons. In my particular case, the bolt had room, so I went that way. But you're right, I read about a few people that had that issue. Many others were worried about the bolt backing out. Guess it just depends on what each of is comfortable with.
