Hey, is about $1200 a decent price for a professional install of your turbo kit? Or can you guys do it cheaper?

$1,200 is wayyy high in my opinion. This kit bolts right up to the stock exhaust manifolds (or headers) which saves a ton of time.

I wouldn't even pay $400 to have it installed. If you have a few tools, anyone will gladly walk you through it.

Hmm... I know how to turn a wrench being that I fabricate water tanks, dump beds, and flat beds on mid size diesel trucks at my job, but my engine know how is limited. My local performance shop quoted me at $5000 for a full turbo set up, I pointed them to this kit and they said its a great kit and they would charge $1200 for the install. $2800 for the kit isn't too bad, but the $1200 install price is a killer. So you think a few guys with a little back yard turbo know how (some of my friends) could get this thing installed for a coke and some chips? ha

If you have any friends with some mechanical knowledge then between all of you guys it shouldn't be too difficult to install this kit yourself. Don't waste your money, install it yourself.

If you could install headers, you can install this.

If you can rebuild a UIM/LIM and remove the fuel rail (or would try) you can do this.

there is no "engine know-how" needed. Everything bolts right up. this of it like adding an intake (it bolts right on) only it takes longer to install.

No modifications.. no cutting (except the drivers side hole for the piping) no bending, no welding.. nothing.

a wrench and a smile is all you need (figuratively speaking..)

I don't know, $400 sounds like a fair labor price to a good Tech who will do a good job installing and checking.

$1200 is an azz-rape though.

I have to agree with most of what has been said. With a decent set of hand tools and a long weekend you should be able to get this done. Especially if you do some prep work before you begin the turbo install. Things like battery relocation and maybe get a head start on swaping injectors.

I did mine (ADC kit) in a 3 day weekend and that included battery relocation and water to air intercooler plumbing. Not to mention ADC's kit required header swapping and you wont have to do that. Hell, the header swap took longer than anything else.

In conclusion, with some buddies and CEG, maybe a specific phone number or two if you get stuck and you should be golden. Save the extra $$ for a wideband and/or EGT gauge.

My bad Tom, I wasn't implying that even $400 wouldn't be fair. I was just explaining that I wouldn't even pay $400 because it is easy and I am doing it myself.

If you really don't want to do it yourself, $400 to $500 sounds fair to me.

I wonder why the shop wants to charge $1200... seems like my only option will be to do it myself eh? heh. I have one more performance shop thats a little closer to me, but they aren't as popular as the rest. I'm worried that since I have no turbo knowledge at all, that I'll get half way through it and then my car will be down when I need it.

Is it mean of me to think that you need to know how to work on your own car before installing any kind of F/I? What if you have an issue? You going to take it to a dealer? LMAO! How long do aftermarket shops stay in business usually? I'll never understand ppl.

No its not mean of you. But also, what does it matter if I know every little thing about my car before I F/I it? A lot of cars come F/I'd from the factory, do I buy a base model Neon, learn it in and out, trade it in, and then buy an SRT4? No.... It's called learning. I know the basics of car motors, no I can't take a motor completely apart and then rebuild it, why? Because I work all the time and don't exactly have the time and place to tear down a motor to learn.

Holy crap... the performance shop I was telling you guys about... the owner died Monday morning. Complications from a fourwheeler accident. Broken spine, femur, and other problems. Went into surgery but didn't make it out. A lot of my friends were extremely close with him, thats kinda why I wanted to get my turbo done there, but didnt wanna hand out that much cash.

See...if you'd paid $1200 he might have had money for a Defib... and then he'd be around to take more of you rmoney later.

one of my buddies(worldtours old roommate) was friends with him I guess. Word is he had three surgerys in one day and didn't make it.

Don Polk from Polk Performance in Benton, AR which is about 15 miles south of Little Rock. He sustained a lot of damage. He was truly a real speed junky. Really nice guy, great person to be around.
