Hi Guys
I need some advise and maybe help. On driver's side cable that pulls window up and down droke. i was able to pull it up and keep it shut for some time now. I i want to fix it. Vehicle parts store staid that its dealers item, so i went to form. I thought i could only replace cable, but they told me i have to get whole motor that moves the window. And they estimated it at around $300. What a rip off.:( Any suggestions will be very welcome.
thanks....

I went to the junkyard and asked for a motor assembly for my car, got it for $35. I took around an hour or so and put it in myself without every really doing any mods to my car before besides speakers, so I knew how to take the door panels off. It's pretty self explanatory, you just need a wrench and a few screwdrivers. Take your time and it's easy.

i know my way around panel. i took it off few times already. but what about cable that goes on a wheel. how does that work. Does anyone have diagrams?
So cable and motor is one Piece? i was thinking of just pulling cable through.

just replace the whole piece. And have a look here http://www.contour.org/ceg-vb/showthread.php?t=6702

If you need something from a junkyard, let me know.

Edit:
Or I have something here that I just remembered. I doubt the cable can be replaced easily. It is riveted in.

This unit must be replaced as a unit. The cable cannot be replaced easily (the motor can be replaced independently of the rest of the unit). Once you tear apart the old unit you will understand. Try team ford parts out of Vegas if you want a new one. I understand they have a group discount set up. Allow one to one and a half hour for the repair.
