Pete D
Hard-core CEG'er
OK, here is my question, hopefully someone can help me out.....
About six weeks ago I got two tickets in my subaru (one for parking, the other for the inspection being invalid). At the time the car was owned and registered to my stepfather. Last week he sold it to me, and now it's registered in my name with new plates (naturally).
My question is, if these tickets aren't paid, what exactly can they do? He doesn't live in NY anymore (my stepfather), doesn't have a NYS license, nor does he have any cars registered in NYS. I don't see that they could suspend his license or registration (being out of state and that he doesn't own the car anymore). And they obviously can't affect his credit rating, so I am not sure what reprocussions (sp) might be? I assume they will just send him a few reminders in the mail, realize they can't do jack, and let it go.
Perhaps someone can chime in on this.
TIA
