What is a trim code and can someone get one from a 96?

I'm looking at doing a pre98 console swap. I found one at a yard close to me for $35. They have 3 or 4 to choose from, but she said she wanted the "trim code". I told her that I was putting a 96 into my 2000 and that it would work fine, but she insisted on getting that trim code. She said it is in the glove box or on the drivers side door. Can anyone help me out? Or can I just give her mine from my 2000 SVT? I'm sure that will confuse her! :crazy:
