As for your question about taking the old cluster out. Its really simple they are 2 screws in that hold the cluster in and then you have to take the rear defrost bottons off to get to one screw holding the molding down and then the little badage that says contour/mystique or where there is a clock/ alarm indicator take that off as well because there are screws behind that as well. If you got questions PM. Once you get the black modling off you can see about 4 screws holding the cluster down. Take those off and your set. Repeat steps to install.

thanks, now i just need to find a 98.5+ tour with a zetec and a tach in it or someone with one...

there's always the option of getting an aftermarket tach gauge if keeping the interior stock isn't too important to you
