I have the mt75 or mtx whatever you wanna call it, I was wondering if there were any transmissions made by ford maybe for a focus svt that would bolt up and give me some better ratios or any kind of advantage. I'm losing a gasket and lots of fluid along with a throwout bearing and a flywheel I figured I might as well look for something better.

more gears  and it sounds cooler to say you swapped in a custom trans from a focus svt

W#ait a sec. They make a weaker transmission than the mt75?
the MTX75 is not a weak trans by any means, especially the pre98 rod shift style. it has its weak points (98+ diff) but it can withstand a lot of power. the getrag 6speed in the focus SVT has been known to break with stock power levels. thats only 160hp and its breaking. i dont want to put that in my car (considering i have 200+ WHP).

that's good to know since I'm not going to be breaking 200 hp anyway. thanks for the info guys.

The MTX75 is essentially a transverse version of the MT75 inline box used on the Cosworth engined Sierras and Escorts these had an out of the factory 220bhp. But few of them in the UK have stayed like that most of the modified ones run at least 300bhp and lots a lot more and the MT is still used, infact the engines usually give out before the box, tho there are diff and transfer box problems at times with the highly tuned versions.

I f you have the trans out break it open and install a quaife or torsen differential (this is a professional job unless you really know what you're doing). If you've got time and cash send it to Terry Haines for a full custom build like i did, you won't be dissapointed.
