I want to thank all of you for posting about this. I had a macanic tell me that my 3rd valve was gone and I needed a new engine. I researched it out and it was just 1. valve cover gasket was BAD and 2. the plug wires were not in their right place. My 97 Contour runs great now!!! Thank you so much. By the way, for anyone wondering? When you are replacing the gasket and trying to get the old off? If you get junk in there, all you have to do is get your vacuum cleaner and use the hose and tools to vacuum it out. Use a clean toothbrush to dislodge anything and vacuum it again...... It works quite well:idea:
