Parking Brake lever removal

Guys,
I am selling my car to a salvage yard and want to remove the parking brake handle before hand because my brother needs it for his SVT. I looked in the hanes manual and it requires me to disconnect the exhaust and do some other stuff under the car. Is this necessary or can I just remove the bolts holding the lever to the floor and then disconnect the cable - thereby doing all the work from inside the car. Thanks.

yes you can just cut the cable and remove the handle. it can also be installed this way but its also a bit of a pain to get it to work.

technically the cable is part of the handle assemble and should be removed all together.
