What type of paint would you recommend I use when painting my Mercury Mystique's grill and ehat else should I do in terms of preparation

I just used Duplicolor from Autozone. Matched pretty well but for a better match, have some color mixed at your paint store. As far as preparation, I just scuffed the chrome up pretty well, primer, 3-4 layers of paint and 3-4 layers of clear. Painted mine about 5 years ago and its held up very well.

ya i used the same when i did my grill. i used Duplicolor. just make sure u sand down the chrome good. if not the primer & paint will chip off very easy. paint & primer doesnt stick to the chrome that well. then put a few coats of primer, few coats of paint & clear. i had to do mine twice cuz the 1st time i didnt sand the chrome & within a few weeks there were chrome spots showing were the paint was chipping. so i had to strip it all down & sand it & redo it. Now that i did it the proper way it hasnt chipped @ all.
