Well me and my Dad took our Contours up to a local track for some racing today. It was only 18 degrees outside and traction was extremely hard to come by.

My car: 2.5 Turbo, 7.5 PSI, Stage 2 Clutch, Stock Headers, Stock exhaust...

My times were:
15.56 @ 96.03 .665 R/T 2.56 60'
15.49 @ 94.65 .138 R/T 2.37 60'
15.66 @ 97.22 .067 R/T 2.41 60'
15.56 @ 95.19 .084 R/T 2.49 60'
15.75 @ 93.21 .055 R/T 2.45 60'
15.53 @ 96.09 .144 R/T 2.45 60'
18.48 @ 82.92 (CEL came on, and car was running rough, so I coasted)

My car really never felt right it 2nd or 3rd gear, and it spun through most of 3rd. Not what I was expecting, but it wasnt terrible considering the conditions

My Dad's car: 3L Turbo, 7.5 PSI, Headers, 3in exhaust?, Stage 3 Clutch, Quafe Differential, Upgraded Tranny...

I dont know all of my Dad's times but here are some examples:

15.5 @ 104
15.0 @ 105
14.6 @ 107
14.7 @ 106

To put these times into perspective:

2008 Cobalt SS 14.9 @ 97
2007 Mustang GT 14.9-15.8
2005 EVO 12.4-12.9 @ 111

Unless you had All-wheel drive, there really wasnt much you could do to get down the track.

All in all we had a good time, made 7 passes for $20, met some people, and had a fun, safe time.

No they didn't..

The other post by his father right below this one says that.

It is a 3 inch Trubendz catback with a resonated catalytic converter, a middle resonator, and two 2.25" chambered Magnaflow SS mufflers in the back to quiet it down. Not bad times considering this is an emissions-compliant car with an exhaust system that strives to quiet it down so much.

Holy cow, those trap speeds are INSANE for mid-15's. You were just spinning all the way through the 8th, weren't you?

It is always fun, I was just hoping for a little warmer weather so the VHT traction compound would work.

I am hoping for 109 mph in the quarter when I get better traction.

My 60 ft times were in the 2.50 range. As a comparison an AWD suburu wagon had 1.8x 60ft times and I was 15 MPH faster in the 1/4 mile. My son had 2.35 60ft times. The dragster ( race car ) has been 1.030 in the 60 ft before but the Contour is still very entertaining to drive.

I'd imagine both are a blast! Well, congrats on the new-ish purchases (it's been what, 2, 3 months for the 2.5L now?); I'm glad it's workin' out for everyone!

What make/model/size tire are you running in the 1/4? The same question goes for the son.

I bet the cold dense air might have helped out a bit too. Crewchief- you ought to be damn close to 12's with that thing when weather conditions improve.
