Custom made name badges for the CEG forums

Each badge is sequentially labeled beginning with #0001 to #0100. Please note that these are limited edition badges. The number can be increase from 100 to 150 or 200 if enough interest is there

Since badge numbers are unique, if you see a car on the road with a specific badge number, you can look up what member that was on the cumulative GB List!

Specifications:

3" x 1" 1100 Alloy Aluminum with Brushed/Satin Finish with a hard anodized clear coat.
3M VHB (Very high bond) mounting tape
Strength: 25 lb/in of 90 degree peel adhesion strength (440 N/100mm)

Anodized / Clear Coat Specs:

Mil-P-514
Mil-P-15024D Type H & G
Federal Spec GG-P-455B

Description:

Chemically anodized black and blue dyes followed by a mil spec anodized clear top coat. The result is an image that is chemical resistant, and highly durable for outdoor applications in direct sunlight and in salt water conditions. The plate of metal itself would have to be destroyed to affect the image due to the state of the art manufacturing. Traditional silk screen or printed badges has color that can scratch off with your fingernail, and the colors fade in UV light... These military spec bad boys do not have a raised ink surface and will last a lifetime.

Each badge has been anodized and CNC cut from a sheet of 0.050" aluminum alloy sheet which is very robust. In addition, each badge is backed with 3M 4949 VHB Black foam tape. This is a premium mounting acrylic/rubber-like pad that will allow your badge to mount to your exterior paint, or textured surface plastics. Designed as an exterior fastener to replace rivets, spot welds, and liquid adhesives, 3M VHB is made of a viscoelastic acrylic foam that is energy absorbing with outstanding durability. (UL746C)

The acrylic adhesive is 100% resistant to full submersion in water, salt water, hydraulic fluid, 10w30 motor oil, and glycol antifreeze. 90% resistant to kerosene, 50% resistant to jet fuel, 35% resistant to gasoline, and 5% resistant to MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone).

If applied at room temperature, 50% of ultimate bond strength will be achieved after 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours and 100% after 72 hours. The higher the temperatures, the faster the curing time.

Installation:

PLEASE make sure the badge is exactly where you want it to go before applying it. This means first taping the badge to the location you want and checking that it's not crooked. Next, outline the badge with tape to mark the location. Finally, peel back the clear plastic liner and apply firmly to virtually any surface that is clean. The bond will be strong, however it can and will remove cleanly without leaving a residue. Just apply about 90 lbs peeling force and the "rubber like" adhesive removes cleanly.

If we can get enough interest for there badges, I can have them made ASAP and have a GB started. But I will need the approval of the admin to use the forum's logo first.

I will reserve the badges number 0001-0004 for the admin and support staff, and the rest of the numbers will be available to the rest of the members

I have attached the badge I have made for a Focus forum.

That's what I was thinking... Why limit the production to sequential numbers of 0-100?

Why not just put their PRODUCTION number on the badge.

You can then find out who owns that production number through the forums as well..
just my $0.02

This is why I'm aksing for ideas. I could even do s/n's instead of numbers.

yeah, I don't get this either...makes more sense to use a production number, not celebrate your spot on a gb list

Oh good times....

Yea I'd be all about having my CEG SN on it. I've got enough numbers on my car already.... plus I'd want two badges one for each side of the car

Also why limit production on something like this?? If people are members of CEG let them get a badge if they want.

These badges do not have to be specifily used for you car. you can place on a laptop, wall clock, or basically anything!

I could do production number too!

In my opinion I'd like to see (for example) the following on the badge...

CEG contour.org
CSVT#49

using of course the same font from the CEG website.

I could do that!!

But i would have the admin permission first to use the orange colored logo.

Well we should probably get a poll on the color arrangement. The orange you are seeing is just the default since the website went through a overhaul. In the past it has always been a blue color. You can change the look in your User CP, under edit options, at the bottom misc. options. I have mine set to the 'CEG classic'.

Not sure what would look best. I would suggest making up a few color options for us so we can see what they would look like before making a final decision.

I like the idea. Being a NON-SVT owner, I would like something that said:
CEG/Contour.ORG
and my Member #11003 from the old forum registry. Possibly a screen name etc..

I don't get the point of the board names...? Personally I don't really live near any other members...don't think I've ever even met anyone else. I think the factory number would be better suited.

I can do a design like that. What do you guys think? would you lik that?

Someone on the boards already makes factory and svt number that are badges/emblems.

Are they made from the materials?
