My Pioneer DEH-P980BT has a built in tachometer that used to work perfectly. About 4 years ago, a reman. Motorcraft alternator was installed on my car. Ever since then, the tachometer in my stereo has not worked properly. The RPMs jump around all over the place and is pretty much useless.

At the same time, I've had issues with my Escort Passport 8500 x50 working intermittently in the SVT. It started giving me problems in my BMW as well, but about a month or so later, the alternator died. Since the install of my new alternator, it works perfect in my BMW, as well as my mom's car when I borrow it. Searching the Escort forums, I found they are sensitive to alternator issues.

So in short, what causes alternator "noise" and what can I do to solve the issue on my SVT? The alternator is charging perfectly, my battery is about a year old, no battery light, and no dimming lights.
