battery light comes on and off

2000 contour battery light comes on after about 5 minutes and eventually goes off after 15 to 20 minutes, i went ahead and replaced the alternator but problem continues. My question is what should I be looking and testing for before I replace anything else?

Check the voltage sensing wore to the fuse box. IIRC Cougars had an issue here and that is where the goldentour wiring fix came from.
