anyone know what this is called??

can anybody help me get my hands on the speedometer gear that goes inside this........this is what the mechanic handed me today.......looks like the previous owner was messing with it a lot.....anyways he opened up the trans to see if the gear had fallen in but it wasn't.......heard this part has been discontinued at fordspartonline.com anybody ever have a similar problem and can help out????????:shrug:
