I have seen some posts about upgrading to a 255l fuel pump. What needs to be done for the install?

What does the current fuel pump run? Is the same fuel pump used in the 6cyl and 4cyl?

Thanks.

stock pumps are either 155 or 190LPH (cant remember which). im also pretty sure that both engines use the same pump but Ford lists 4 separate pumps (return/returnless for both engines) so they may not.

for a returnless system, the easiest thing to do is to get the Ford GT (supercar) fuel pump which is a 265LPH pump. it drops right in and only needs the proper connectors spliced into the wiring. return cars are much easier to find a pump for since most 255LPH pumps are designed for that style fuel system. a Walbro GSS317 (the GSS342 for the high pressure version) drops right in, at least on the pre98 Zetecs.

Agree with most of this.

But the Ford GT pump is not a direct drop in. The top of the pump is not the same as the top of the stock pump. I had to use some rubber fuel line and some clamps to connect the top of the pump to the existing fuel lines in the fuel pump assembly.
