I was curious which 3L Duratecs can and cannot be used for swaps. I know that we cannot use VVT Duratecs, but but how about others?

The reason I am asking is because I can get my hands on a 2008 Duratec 3L out of a Mercury Mariner that got demolished in the rear.

The thing that's weird is the WP is being run by the Exhaust cam (the one closest to the front of the car) where nornally it is run by the Intake cam...

The engine has 12k miles, and I can get it for stupidly cheap.

Thanks. As noted you could use the 2008 Escape motor but you have to get around the few annoying things mentioned in the post even if it's used as a full 3L. Forget trying to make a ported 3L with it as you have to cut the valve covers down for the intake to clear (you can't swap on any other valve covers). It's best to stick with the older 3L's.
