the first 3L that was in my car was an 02 with stock cams, it was great for low to mid range. the next motor was an 04 with stock cams, it was great with more mid to upper range. there is a difference in the profiles for sure. the 04 and up are closer to the svt cams than the early motors. i had the 04 cams in my car with the vortec and it pulled great all the way through, but that wias with the zetec fd.
you have to think ultimately what are you going to do with the car? if youre drag racing then svt cams will give you a bit more of an edge, maybe, but for everyday driving with occasional track use stick with 3l cams
