It's a shame contour meets don't draw crowds like this anymore...

Except for SZ of course.

This saturday i attended a little "R" get together at an irish pub in jersey. Roughly 30 cars...25+ r's, an older 850r, coupe, an S80 V8 and a couple others. People came from PA and as far as Massachusetts!

Just took some quick pics cause it was cold and i wanted to go inside and eat/drink (had the best reuben ever!)

Oh, and one guy showed up with one of these:

The owner (in the first pic) it a bit taller than me, and I asked him how the hell he got in and out of that car. He said "very carefully." I said i dont' think i coudl do it, and he said i was welcome to try...so I did. I imagine it would be much easier with the roof off...but with it on it was extremely hard to get in the car. Passenger side wasn't as bad, but with the steering wheel in the way - dayum! Once you're in the seats...wow, talk about being "one" with a car. Even with no seatbelt i could not see you moving around inside that car!

The worst part was getting out though...cause now gravity is working against you. Getting in, you can sort of just position yourself and fall into place, then pull your leg over the hump on the side. Getting out was much more difficult. Try to imagine ace ventura when he was getting out of the rhino in part 2. Yeah...like that

And the owner drives it every day. I dunno...some people are hardcore!

i love the interior of the lotus. i love simple no nonsense stuff. thats why i like my svts a lot. simple, i hate automatic climate control.

like i said man, it's a great car for what it is - which is a track car. not very fun or easy to get in and out of...not very comfortable either. Man it must be a riot to drive on the track though. but that's it, it's a purpose built car. It's amazing how small it is too...i mean when you drive up on it in a "normal" sized car and have to look down on it...wow

haha i know. i have stood next to one. it was almost like i could pick it up and throw it, it was so small. there is one or two running around my town.

i love the Volvo R's:drool:

Regular Evo meets around here attract over 50 Evos, Subarus, and various other imports.

Nice meet!

Looks like a good time. reubens

NE is having a 30+ person meet this coming Saturday, so things aren't all that grim for CEG. :)

i didn't say anyone was doing bad... :help:

the contour community in general are die hards (and us trolls). just haven't seen a meet like that in a long while. it has been atleast 3 years since anyone in the ny area got together...even then there were only 8 of us tops, back in the day.

i didn't mean anything bad by the title though.

Not trueeee. The past two weekends there have been gatherings of a handful of CEG/NECOer's at aircougar's house. I woulda been there yesterday but I had work .

Wow you guys. Talk about a EGL/NECEG/everyone-else pissing match.

I know what TGO means about the meets. It was definitely fun to have huge random meets. I didn't really attend any of these, but NECEG had regular weekend gatherings in 2002 with a good number of people at each. The meet this coming weekend (which I am wicked looking forward to!!!) will be our biggest in probably three years.

I do enjoy the userbase these days too though, since (especially with older members) the people are extremely dedicated to the car.

I did a software training today (me = Dental Implant Software Specialist) for a customer today (High end Periodontist) and he let me drive his S60r. I loved it alot i really couldnt think of much to improve on. The only reason i got to drive it cause instead of me spending 4-5 hours talking about software we talked about computers for like a hour or two then euro/sweede cars. Edit: That and hes our local sales rep's brother who also was there.

The s60-R is his winter beater, is summer car is a BMW M6. I think i got intot he wrong field. I want to go back and get a degree in perio, most of these docs have the sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetest cars and offices.
