Alright, i was driving home from school on I-83, and i remember down shifting to fourth and a funny knocking sound started in my engine. the knock gets faster when i hit the throttle... I took a recording of it on my phone, and it sounds pretty acurate, if anyone whats to give me their cell phone number, i can text the sound to you. I'm reallllly not a fan of this noise and would like it to go away asap. any help would be GGREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

thats not a good thing. could be one of many things. all of which involve quite a bit of work to fix

yeah your right ian ......she's done......... :( :( :( i took her straight to our mechanics, and he actually heard me pulling in, from his desk. He said the motor's shot, and he's not convinced that it only had 69,689 miles on it, cause i bought it used. i am thoroughly depressed. He said that there is slight slight chance that it's something else, but it aint likely. so ima in need of a motor now.. what the hell do i do??? :(*tear*tear*:(

hahaha, thats actually EXACTLY what i was thinking, but um... how would one go about gettin a 3L? can i buy one or do i have to build it? aren't you doing a 3L conversion?
 
i dunno what im doing haha id like to before i go and get the turbo eventually. u can buy a used one and build it or buy a new one. either way it might be a bit of money but u get horsepower.
 
tuurrbbooo, that'll be nice. i'm gonna have to talk to my dad and see what he can do, cause he's in cali, and my mom doesn't know where she's gonna get the money for this. the mecahnic said it'll be a few thousand dollars to fix it, if we decide to. how much do you think a 3.0 motor is running these days?
 
after we get the final report tomorrow, i'll have to decide what to do.. i think im a lil bit inexperienced to all that motor building stuff, so i'm just gonna try and find money for a 3L, hopefully my dad will help out a lil. This is such a depressing experience :cry:

Don't get me wrong , I'd be mortified too , given that situation :cry: . It really stinks . I'm not saying to "get over it" , cause I know that'd be hard to do . Just try to keep your head up - things will unfold in your favor ... eventually .
 
Research your options. Ian sent you a link and so did I, that should give you a good idea of the prices minus the install. Talk to your mechanic, if he'll be doing the work, and get a ballpark figure from him to do the install.

Once you check out the pricing of the 3L vs another SVT engine you will see that the prices are very close. It's up to you if you want to stick with the SVT engine or go 3L.

Hang in there, you'll have your car back up and running in no time. :)

You are still welcome to come to the meet, SVT or not, you are still welcome.
 
welll i do belive i have some good news. the mechanic took a quick look at it today, and said that the sound was coming more towards the top of the engine, like right under the intake manifold, as apposed to farther down in the motor. soooo, i might not be needing a new motor!! but then again... i really want that 3.0...... but i'm sure i'll get there eventually. they'll start working on it monday, so if all goes well, and a motor is not what the doctor orders, i'll have her for the meet :) :) huurraayy
