i was looking on a site with alot of Steeda parts for focus's and found a lot of parts for my car, such as cams, cam gears, header, pullies, TB's, intakes, etc. Do u think with the right tuning and all of those parts, i could get 180 HP out of my car??? here is the site if anyone wants to check it out...

wat do u guys think of a Steeda Mystique???

Word. Just do the little mods (intake, exhaust, UDP, and tune) thats where most of the HP is without spending a fortune.

That would be my advice. I mean, that piddly little 125hp was pretty snappy as I remember (I drove a 5-speed '95 GL for like three years). Imagine that peppy little four-banger with 165 or 170 hyperactive ponies pushing it forward! It would be one quick little car. I think it would be worth it.

Just toss in:
-Headers
-Full-length exhaust, preferably 2.5" dual, probably MagnaFlow, with good resonator, hi-flow cat, and performance mufflers
-Cold-air intake
-XCal2 Tuner with performance package.
-Maybe some pullies and cams if you wanna get fancy.

I think this would add a butt-load of torque and horsepower.

Then again, all this could easily run you over $2,000 to $3,000 with installation, and you can literally buy a nice SVT on ebay for about that price, and it will have a body kit, 200hp, rims, etc.

I'd just go with the SVT and keep your beloved quad-cylinder go-kart as a daily beater car. Or sell it for a grande or two and use that money in conjunction with a small bank loan to nail a nice SVT! Check these out...

some peoples Idea's of "cold air intakes" scare me. I'd never buy that car.
Better but still a little rough

I think this is Bagged's car? It'll probably go for a fairly high price and it looks nicer than the other two.

Edit: Definitely Bagged's car: http://www.contour.org/ceg-vb/showthread.php?t=18719

yeah for $3500 i can build a turbo kit that is more than capable of hitting 250+ WHP. im sitting at 200WHP right now and i was pushing a straight oval port 3L this past weekend.

well considering i would install it all myself, i'd save a bit of money. I found out that it would cost around 1800 bucks for all the parts, and about 2 weeks or so for me to install everything.

well if you do all of it (ie internals plus f/i) you'll see even better numbers, so going the cheaper way isn't always the best way. one of my friends with a zetec focus is pushing 320whp at a cost of $6500 and it's built and tuned way in the safe range of what that engine can handle. so upping the boost could be done if he wanted to but as of right now he has to feather the clutch so he doesn't toast his tires. I still have yet to see his time slips but judging by the way it moves I'd guess it was at low 13's.

oh, and also, dont u think a 180 hp would beat a 190hp SVT??? considering it weighs a little less and the gear ratio is shorter??

i think it would be interesting race but idk if it would be a sure win.

if your talking about between a 180BHP zetec vs a 200BHP SVT i think the zetec could take it. mine has 200WHP (about 230BHP) and i push 3L contours :D:D

of course i have 220WTQ which helps

Hmmm you push some 3L contours :p but there are about a million ways to build a 3L.

but yeah a 180 hp Zetec could be a good run for an SVT, but I vote SVT. The potential weight difference between the zetec and the duratec isn't much so I don't really see it winning unless the Zetec driver is considerably better than the other. :)

If you want to win just make sure you race one without a functioning imrc. There are so many V6 cars out there that the imrc doesn't work, I saw one dyno at ~135whp  the same day I dynoed at 179whp
