It's actually not a seam, it just looks that way in pictures due to the way the light reflects. When you see it in person you'll see that it's a single sheet, but the hood bends up very slightly there and hence it comes out looking like a "line" or "seam" in photographs. Speed Demons and DEVIOUSDEV can attest to this- the primary portion of the hood (if not all) is a single piece without seam.
