I needed to replace the valve cover gasket on the zetec, but when I got in there I noticed that there had definatly been some gasket sealer used in addition to the gasket the last time that it was replaced. Is this necessary or just overkill? The Ford CD just says to tighten the bolts to spec, but I don't have my Haynes manual with me to double-check. What have you guys done in the past?
