The new subframe is not needed, but it is recommended. If you don't get the new subframe, you can take your car with your newly installed sway bar and ask them to "box in" your brackets. The welding & metal required should cost you more than $50. You can always install the new bar and not push the car to the limits until you have a chance to have this done.
