First off, yes, you do drive a Contour. Yours is not *that* different a vehicle so as to omit the "Contour" out of "SVT Contour"
Secondly, nobody seems to put down my car once they've had a ride in it. I even got "is this thing turbocharged?" once by a Cavalier owner and complete stranger (he ran out of gas on an offramp, I gave him a ride to the nearest station) ... and I wasn't even driving fast!
I take criticism of my car with a grain of salt nowadays because only I truly know its capabilities (and limitations). You really shouldn't be that bothered by what other people say, especially if they haven't had a ride in your car.
