Been a long time since I've changed oil in a car... anything special I need to know in the case of a '96 Contour GL? Filter wrench, oil capacity.. all that jazz!
Thanks, t

It takes a little less than 5 quarts. Be prepared to think bad thoughts of the Ford engineers as you try to put your arm in, through, over, and around the obstacles between you and the filter. The easiest way is to jack up the front of the car and remove the front right tire.

Get a drain pan with a wide opening. The plug is on the side of the oil pan, so it goes shooting out when you first remove it, and the flow stays closer in as there's less oil to drain out. A real pain.

Your car will fit a larger filter PH8A. Same price , more filter , same change intervals. Front wheel removal a must with larger filter.

But 10,000 km ain't too bad. And with a quality oil and a filter chage in between, I don't think 10,000 miles would be all that terrible either.

What filter is that?
Anyways, use the right filter for it. Motorcraft FL200. Plenty big enough. Wheel removal is nice but not necessary (but it's worth the little extra time it takes to remove four lug nuts, to me anyways).
